Circle updates Programmable Wallets with Solana NFT support and a new sample app for user-controlled wallets, enhancing developer capabilities.

Circle has announced significant updates to its Programmable Wallets, aimed at enhancing the developer experience. According to Circle, these updates include support for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Solana blockchain and the release of a new sample application for user-controlled wallets.

NFT Support on Solana

The latest updates introduce feature support for developers building with Programmable Wallets on Solana. With this enhancement, wallets created by developers can now support Solana NFTs. This integration opens up opportunities to interact with the broad ecosystem of Solana NFTs, including marketplaces, lending platforms, and gaming applications. Interested developers can refer to the API updates for detailed instructions on how to implement Solana NFT support.

Updates to Token Balance Query Responses

Circle has also updated the behavior of two API endpoints that manage token balances within a wallet. To eliminate confusion around tokens with zero balance, these API endpoints will no longer include such tokens in their responses. Developers using these endpoints are advised to review how these changes might impact their projects. However, if the monitored token feature is enabled, tokens with zero balance will still be included in the responses.

New Sample App for User-Controlled Wallets

Circle has introduced a new sample app designed to help developers create their first user-controlled wallets in under 10 minutes. The sample app provides a walkthrough video that guides users through the process of:

Binance

Onboarding users and automatically generating on-chain wallets
Enabling users to send and receive USDC through their wallets
Setting up Gas Station to sponsor network fees on behalf of users

These updates underscore Circle’s commitment to facilitating the development of decentralized applications and enhancing the capabilities available to developers in the Web3 space.
